HADI BALADNA W MANE5OUN 3HOUDAHA..

The Hashemite Kingdom Of Jordan is celebrating its 6oth Independence Day.
On this occasion, I am presenting my deep congratulations to the Jordanian Royal Family & to The Jordanian people.
Jordan is knowing, although the lack of natural ressources such as gas, promotion and modernisation in all fields such as economic, social, fighting illiteracy, poverty, terrorism and establishing Democracy.
The Jordanian state, since the late King Hussein and until now with His Majesty the King Abdullah II, is taking a pillar part in the Middle East Peace Process. A step that I am qualifying of courageous one.

I, THE ADVOCACY AND THE TUNISIAN LEAGUE FOR THE HUMAN RIGHTS...

The current issue in Tunisia now is cncerning the future's advocacy institute. After negotiations and a back and forth between the State and the Tunisian Bar, the institute, which mission is to improve the Tunisian's lawyers skills, will see the sun next school year. But still problems to talk about. As I am working like a legal advisor and I will be a future lawyer, enshallah, here some guidlines to help you, readers.
*
BACKGROUND

It was said that the lawyers (about 4000, in the whole Tunisia) or some of them, are disliking the fact that the number of the lawyers is increasing in Tunisia, however the fields allowed to the lawyers to act in are too narrow. In fact, those lawyers are disliking the entrance of some lawyers without taking the national exma, which means, people like me, because we are students of Master.
So, they were screaming to unify the entrance to the advocacy by creating an institute.
Nevertheless, the bachelors (students with B.A), will be obligated to take a national exam to enter the institute to study for three years more and the students of master will enter automatically, but both will study in the institute.
I am not concerned because the law will be applicable after four years from now.

STATE's RESPONSE

with regard the lawyers' demands, specially the Bar, the Tunisian authorities reacted.
The first step was taken by His Excellency the President Ben Ali. He took a decision to enlarge the fields where lawyers can act onbehalf of their clients. His decision was well-welcomed, but as we are TUNISIANs, so we'd like more: the institute.
One time more, the state starts negotiations with the bar and with some lawyers.
But they reached a deadlock, because the State is liking to supervise the institute, which will be presided by a lawyer, however the bar is liking to manage the institute solely and to fund it from foreign contribution. Can you imagine? A national institute will be funded by foreing contributors who may be against Tunisia or unknown to us. May I have confidence in such institute?
More, if the institute will be managed by the Bar, who can trust the Law & politics' students of their entrance to the institute? Experience shew us that the bar is controlling when to open or not the national examination for the advocacy entrance (CAPA), now they will be monopolling the institute.
I SAY NO. Although the State's gap, I prefer the State to manage the institute because the State is more secure that private.
I say to the Bar, it is time to re-study their policy. I know that they are not sharing me my ideology, I am not, either.
*
PENDING &...

It is said that some file are pending like health security cover for the lawyers, but I still determined that the best way is negotiation with the authorities, because Tunisia is for all.
*
LTDH
*
The topic in Tunisia now is the general congress of the Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH).
I do not know the real fact but I am sure that no side is telling the truth. Some are wanting to take the management, other are wanting to keep it. What I am against, is when some are using that to harm Tunisia outside through worldwide media. I did not tell that we live in pradise in Tunisia, but also we have realized a lot of projects and good things. Our duty is to keep our gains.
Many famous people from the opposition are telling, sorry to say, misleading statements. It said that there is no freedom of speech in Tunisia! Let me telling you a story. In the university where I studied, we had a course about freedom, human rights, etc.. The professor is an opposition figure. He was all the time against the tunisian authorities. One day, I rose my hands so he allowed me to talk. I asked him, if he is denying freedom in Tunisia, how was he able to give such course without being censured by the authorities or having problems? I remember his reaction. He became so nervous, shouting in the auditorium, and my friends later , had told me later that during the oral examination, that I did not take because I got my average in his course, if they did not share him his ideas, as he doesnot believe in religion and he is a communist, they did not get good mark. So I am querring the Tunisian oppostion figures, if you are calling for freedom of expression and thoughts, why YOU, you do not accept the opposite view?

QUAND MON PERE NOUS A QUITTER...

"Quand mon père nous a quitté;
je n'ai pas vu maman pleurer;
mais elle avait dans le regard;
ce matin là comme le brouyard;
et dans mon coeur il a neigé;
quand papa nous a quitté"

NE VOUS INQUIETTEZ PAS * MON PERE EST ENCORE VIVANT
DO NOT WORRY * MY FATHER IS STILL ALIVE
My father is fighting the cancer.
Yesterday night I heard the above song. It was so touching.
I am trying o keep strong, specially in front of my father, mother, sisiter, brothers and friends, as I used to be. In fact my friends are calling me "the blue blooded", in reference to the Bitish and the Royal Family. they are saying that am very hard and severe, but that is not correct. Deeply inside I am so sensitive.
Many nights I cried in my bed where no body could see or hear me, and I am sure that my mother is doing the same. She is a magnificant mom.

THE FIRST WORD...

I am going to start writting my dissertation (memoire), but I have found it very difficult, because of the first word to start with. What will be that word? It is not easy to find.
One of my friends suggested to start with "D'abord" (initially, at first, first...) ;)
My memoire is of course in English :)
May God help me and help all those like me.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING...

Have you ever heard about the human trafficking?
It is an unhuman treatment of dreamers. Girls and boys dreaming of being superstars and top models in the world of fashion in Europe, the United States or in Asia. Many companies and agencies covering such dirty activities, are stealing the dreams of such guys. Making casting meetings throughout different cities in order to choose the future's Top Models, these agencies, in fact, are choosing the future's pornographic actors, whores and gays.
Arriving to their destination with a dream of being reach and famous, the victims are deprived from their passports and emprisonned in whorehouses.
Those people are forced to make sex with clients.
Moreover, some human traffickors are using gangs in different countries such in India, the Phillipinnes, Thailand and Vietnam either to kidnapp girls and boys aged of six years old and more or sometimes even to buy them from their families, very poor families.
I cannot maitain that such dirty and unhuman thing can happen and that many people, specially tourists, are looking for such thing.
Can you imagine the situation of the victims? Kidnapped? Stolen? Threatning them and trying to harm their families if they try to run away or to contact authorities?!
can you try to think what would be the future of a girl aged of 6, if she wasn't kidnapped? What would be her life itenerary if she stood with her family and friends, sudying and playing?
Such stories are giving me the desire to throw up.

WHAT IF..?

What if my family have told me about my father's sickness before?
I would be warnned and I would push him to continue his treatment.
What if my father has continued his treatment? He would save all of us from the resent pain.
What if..what if..what if.. just what if, now we are living the situation.

I AM ASHAMED

I believe in peace between the Arabs and the Israelies, whatever the circumstances are. But what is happening from both sides and especially from the Israeli one, makes me ashamed and with no comments over the facts in the region. When my friends ask me to give them my prospective over the peace process in the ME, I cannot answer them, because I know that the Israelies ae making things harder and harder, but we also, the Arabs, we are not angels!
I was about giving up, but after thinking and thinking, I have decided to continue the battle. PEACE NOW!

INVEST IN TUNISIA

I have read a foreign article talking about foreign investments in Tunisia. Due to security, safety, continuing economic growing-up in order of 5.5% per year, opening, closeness to Europe, the Arab world and Africa, make Tunisia a destination to Arabs & International businessmen and multinational companies to invest in Tunisia. Until 2005, Tunisia recorded investments with a sum of 900 million of dollars. Such sum is expecting to be of more than one billion of dollars by the end of 206 or the begining of 2007.

AN EVENING OF TEARS...UNE APRES MIDI DE LARMES..

I love India.
Last Friday evening I was watching an Indian movie in company of my sister. As you know the Indian movies are so emotional. In fact I couldn't keep my tears. The movie's scenario was about a father and his unique son. A rich father, owner of a big factory of toys and his son who was a crazy of being an actor and with no aim to carry out the business of his father. The relation between both of them was that of more than a parental relation, they were like close friends. When the son married from a rich girl and a daughter of a family friend, she became pregnant and she gave birth to a hire just hours before that that father died. He died of cancer and the whole story was about how that father was trying to keep in secret his sickness of lug cancer on his son, in order not to "bother" his feelings and not to be an obstacle in fulfilling his dream of being a movie star.
An emotional story that remembered me of my father who was in the room next to us, fighting the cancer. My father and my mother who tried two years ago to keep in secret what my father's was fighting in order not to "bother" my work and my studies, but they forgot that I am a part of a family. Two years ago, if I had known what my father was fighting, I would pushed him to continue the "chemiotherapy " that he refused to continue it and we were able at that time to save what we are living now. But unfortunately, this is a will of God. The only problem is that my father is from the medical field and he knows his situation!

A PART OF MY LIFE...

I think that this article will help you to understand a part of my life.
I was born more than 25 years now. I was the first child to be born in my Mother's family. Why I am talking about my mother's family? It is because we were living next to them. I have lived there until 1999 (age: 20 years). When I was a child, they told me that I was preferring to saty at my garndpa home becuase I found there my oncles who were by the time very young (they are 5), so I liked there noise ;)
When my parents left Tunisia, I stayed with my garnd parents, especially that I was studying. So I was sseing my parents, my sister and my brothers for just two months and two weeks yearly for more than 12 years.
When my parents decided to be established in Tunisia, I got my baccalaureate and I moved to Tunis, so I met with them just in the weekends or the holidays, and this since 1999. In the last two years, I could see them just in the weekends even during the holidays because I am working and continuing my Master thesis.
That's why there is a distance between me and them. We do not talk so often. They are saying that they have a confidence in my choices, so never did they discuss with me my studies or work or future.
Now, with my father sickness, I am finding a problem to express my feelings, too.
I have lived alone, with no familymate or friends, I used to be a little bit "rigid", like the ex-soviets ;) but deep inside I am very weak.
All what I am focusing on now, is how to help my father & my family. Your comments, ideas and messages are of big comfort to me. Thanks a lot to share me this terrible moments and I hope that none of you nor of your families will know similar experience.

MY FATHER & THE CANCER...

My Father picture

My father is fighting the cancer which is located on his kidney. Doctors have decided to remove it, but unfortunately my father is becoming more & more slim and weak. He has to be well feeded in order to be able to be operated. I do not like to loose my faith in God and my optimism, but at the same time I can not stand my family situation and I ca not keep watching my mother and my little brothers.
I am preparing my self to the worst of events, although I am looking with an eye of hope on the future.

PRINCE HARRY SETS UP AIDS CHARITY

British royal PRINCE HARRY has launched a charity in memory of his late mother DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, which aims to help children orphaned by AIDS. Inspired by Diana's charitable legacy, the young prince co-founded the organisation with Lesotho royal PRINCE SEEISO and has named the charity Sentebale, which translates to "don't forget me". The 21-year-old says, "I am committed for the rest of my life." Prince Seeiso's mother QUEEN MAMOHATO was also a devoted charity campaigner before her 2003 death and Prince Harry hopes his common interest with the African royal will make them an unstoppable global force. He adds, "Sentebale is a way that both I and Prince Seeiso can relate to our mothers who were both in sort of the same jobs working with orphaned children. "Both our mothers were hugely connected with AIDS, especially the orphaned children. As I said last year, I wanted to carry on as best I could what she started."

I DO NOT KNOW WHY...IT IS BECAUSE..

I do not know why I want to know why the Leabanese politicians do not like to make mutual compomises in order to take off from their frozen situation..It is because they are focusing on their benefits and the power.
*
I do not know why Syria does not like to draw the border with Lebanon and to exchange Ambassadors with it..It is because Syria is believing that Lebanon is a part of Syria and if the Syrians accept to draw the borders especially of Shabaa, Hezbollah as well as President Emile Lahud presence will be of no sense..so as long as the file of Shabaa firms is not solved..as long as Hezbollah and Emile Lahud will stay, not onlky in power, but in serving Syrian's business in Lebanon too.
*
I do not why I want to express my pride of two bloggers: Tarek Cheniti & Hannibal..I am very proud of them..It is because they are bringing respect to Tunisia & Tunisians.
*
I do not know why I believe that Zizou from Djerba is a Jew..It is because all the time he is posting articles about Jewish and he is linking the site of "Harissa", a jewish site ;)
*
I do not know why I want you to know that I am involved in politics..May be it is because I do not want to have a "mask" and a distance between me and my dear bloggers especially: Troubadour (who knows), marouen, Subzero Blue, AquaCool, infinity, Adib, Zizou, Tarek, Hannibal and Evil . That things does not mean that I am a SPY ;)
*
I do not know why I want to express my hate to : Bin Laden, Al Zawahiri and Al Zarquawee..It is clear because I do not share them their thoughts and the way they are using. I was educated to love and respect the other, that's why I will defenf Peace and no violence forever.
*
I do not know why I have a feeling that I will be rocked with comments..so please be soft with me :)

TUNISIA..IRAN.. & THE NUCLEAR..

Why do not the Tunisian government tries to establish a nuclear reactor to provide Tunisia with energy and to be used in civil purpose?
I have heared that Morocco is studying a similar project.
Concerning Iran, I am against its program, because as said before, Iran is still wanting to export its Islamic Revolution outside Iran and it is clear that Iranians are wanting to get their own nuclear bomb. The Iranian government is lying, because it is impossible to enrich uranium however it gets its reactor finished. More than that, if Iran is really wanting to use the nuclear energy for civil purposes, the enriched uranium is availbale in the international market. More, Iran does not have a pre-alarm warning system, which means that the whole region is threatned. Just for your knowledge, the Iranian nuclear reactor of Bushaher, is three times closer to Koweit than Tehran.
I am saying all of that to warn those who are supporting Iran because of emotion..just because they hate USA & Israel..

WILL I BECOME THE "QUEEN"?

Camilla is asking herself whether or not she will become the Queen of the British people one day.
56% of the british prefer her as "the King's wife", 21% as "Queen".
It appears that our beloved Diana will not be forgotten easily.
During the last visit of the Royal couple to USA, Camilla was not accepted by the Americans whom can not forget the beautiful Lady Diana, dancing with Travolta in the White House.

I AM MISSING...I AM HATING...

These days I am missing the comments of two bloggers: Hannibal & Tarek Cheniti. I do not know if they are visiting or not my blog, but I was used to read from them. I hope that I did not make any mistake or stupid thing, so that they felt ennuied?!
*
What I am hating is the fact to turn my thoughts & ideas. I was surprised that the pictures that I posted to commemorate the WSIS Tunis 2005, have brought to me a lot of undesirable comments ;)
It was better to me to be saved :)

As Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating Her 80th birthday, I want to forward Her with my Best Whishes and to say "Hap'..Hap'..Birthady"
Many people are talking that it seems that Prince Charles, as Crown Prince, is never going to be a king. Many of the British are wanting Prince William to be as their future King, however it is clear that Her Majesty is determined to continue Her Duties. JAAFARI, SADDAM & WHAT IF...?

Hearing the news of Saddam's trial delay, I was thinking about what is happening in Iraq, before, now and what would be the situation in the future.
When the Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarek has said that the Shiite's loyality is all the time towards Iran, not to their own countries, world "stood up and never sat down". The Iraqi shiites disliked that say and the Egyptian President has withdrewn his first statement saying that he was talking about religious loyality not politically. NO, Mr. the president, you were right. The shiite's loyality is always towards Iran, and we shall not forget that one of the Iranian Islamic Revolution is to export the revolution to the world especially the Iranian's neighbours like Iraq, the Arabian Gulf, the Middle East and for far the Islamic world. Iran is playing its whole card especially in the present ciercumstances and we, the Arabs and the Muslims, we shall not be happy of the Iranian nuclear project.
Back to the topic!
I was watching Saddam's trial, then a question has came to my mind. What if Saddam Hussein was in office, and a similar trial was going on in Iraq. What would be the reaction of Saddam towards people who had tried to kill or already had killed or ordered to kill or to manage a "a coup d'Etat" ? The answer is that Saddam Hussein would order them to a death sentence without trial. So, I want to say to all those people who are denying democracy on Iraq to be quiet, because the fact of sending Saddam to trial untill now, without sentenced him, is a clear evidence of the respect of law and although Saddam will be sentenced to death (may not), he deserves it because all of us, we know what he did during his dictaturship.
Back to the famous Dr. Al Jaafaree, Dr, I think it is better to you to withdraw from the political scene and to allow your colleagues continue their negotiation to form the Iraqi government and to try to focus on building the country. LEAVE THE CHAIR, Dr. Al Jaafaree and try to do something good before regret it one day.
Former Lebanese PM the late Rafic Hariri had put above the principal front door of the Government's Palace "Assaray Al Kabir" a marble plate written on it " if it persisted to your predecessor, it wouldn't come to you".

JEAN PAUL II...IN OUR MEMORIES

Brave man, of kind personality, with warm heart and deep faith. These personal qualities describe very well the late pope Jean Paul II who died a year ago.
It was shocking time when the Holy City of Vaticans' spoksman had announced the daeth of the Pope. I recall how many people were gathered in the main square of the city. Rome was very sad and prayers were recited from the whole world.

NABBARRA...

"Nabbarra", this is typical qualification of the Tunisian citizens.
As you know, I am sharing a flat with some friends with whom I am in a perpetual conflict of interest and misunderstandings.
Last time, watching the Tunisian TV Channel Tunis 7, they were making "empty" comments.
-"Oh! "After the break". It isn't like Al JAzeera?", said one of them with a big laugh on his face.
The other started laughing and making other comments and description without basis.
I shouted:"NO! It is not true. The first channel to follow the Anglo-american system of broadcasting was MBC. Tunis 7 is just following a worldwide behaviour, altthough the existence of some gaps, stop your irony and hypocrisy. Nabbarra nta3 wedni!".
Another one made another comments ver the weather forcast of Tunis 7, too. " What colours! what animation! Hheheheh"
And they started again in thier laughs that qualify of non respect of our homeland. I do not know if they are following international televisions like Euronews or the majority of the Arabic Tv channels or the Anglo-American ones.
Nabbarra, I believe is the best qualification of the Dear Tunisians who are very brave when talking in corners and saying untrue statements.
It is really very shamefull!

STARAC ..ZOUZOU THE WINNER...

Many of my friends have criticized me because of my follow-up to Star Academy 3 Middle East. I remember one time I was talikng by phone to my dear Siba, from Lebanon.
- I: " sabsoub, do you follow star academy3?"
- Siba:" yey 3lik. Wenta 3am te7dar hek echya? ya 3eb echoum!"
- I replied:" no. I am following them because they were 19 students. The samre number of our group nineteen & many of them are from the same nationalities as we."
Yes. I was following them because they allowed me to remember my group, my friends and the wonderfull moments that we have spent together. I believe that friendship is very precious & that the Lebanese Joseph Atieh is deserving to be crowned as Star.
Long Live Lebanon ;)

CONVERSATION...

Although my sadness over my dad's health statuts, I am trying to continue my life. Last time, I and my friends, we were making our dinner and I was making a juice, when we started talking about Saddam Hussein. Here are my point of views over the Middle East:
I disagree with Saddam Hussein. When he invaded Kuwait, I was in Saudi Arabia. Please follow me now, I will start from 1979, the Islamic Revolution year in Iran.
One of the main purposes of the Islamic Revolution, headed by Imam Khomaini, was to spread the Islamic Revolution to the world, especially to the neighbhoors like Iraq, especially that in the south there is a huge crowd of Shiite, and to the Arabian Gulf countries and to the Middle East then to the Islamic World. But keep in mind, that any foreign interference in local business will fail, if not supported by the people of the interested country, look to Iraq now and to the USA policy in spreading democracy.
When Saddam Hussein took the power in Iraq, by force of course, he declared war on Iran. The said countries found in that an opportunity to keep the Iranian threat away, so, Saudi Arabia, Koweit, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Russia & USA, they were helping Iraq by providing him with the necessary money, billion & billion of US Dollars, and military equipements. Just keep this in your mind, please, to realize how we, the Arabs, are unfaithful. Do you know which countries were providing Iran with money and military equipments, Israel yes, BUT Syria, too. USA handled huge pressure on Israel to stop its aid to Iran.
I believe that the Iraqi invasion of Koweit was the most stupid stap that Saddam has ever done. Whatever his arguments are, I am considering them as faulty. If he was thinking that koweit is the 19 th district of Iraq, due to history, listen to this:
- Tripoli, the capital of Libya was historically under the Tunisian territory.
- Former border of Tunisia, was in connection with Annaba and Cosantine in Algeria.
- Lebanon was a part of syria.
- All the territories located behind the daed sea on the Jordanian side, were Palestinian, until Amman.
- City of Gizan in Saudi Arabia, is yemenite.
- What about Qatar, Bagrain, Oman, UAE?
- The whole Sudan, was Egyptian.
You can now make a deduction. If we will apply Saddam's thoughts, you can imagine how our Arab World will be. He was a crazy man. A bloody man.
Many people are supporting the idea of non existence of mass destruction weapons in Iraq, and that USA was searching an excuse to make a war. Sorry, I do not think that the Americans are so stupid. They have made wrong decisions and faults, yes, but decision like that...
Why did the Iraqi government allowed the UN commissioners entering Iraq and destroying a lot of chemical weapon? Do you remember when the Iraqi officials, said live on TV, that their chemical weapons are being destroyed by the UN investigation commission, do not agree that that was a positive statement that Iraq owned such kind of weapon?
Moroever, Saddam is now denying that he ordered to kill citizens of Doujeil, because some of its citizens tried to kill him. Heh! Saddam who tried to kill the former President of Iraq, when he was in his twenties, now is denying such thing!
Assuming that he is right, may be the man is right, why not, what about the killing of the Kurd in Hallabjah northern Iraq? It was clear what the Iraqi had done in the eighties. Everything is taped & recoreded. It was clear too, that the Iraqi forces were using chemical weapon which means that Iraq could make mass destructive weapons, may be nuclear, why not?
Having nuclear weapons, why not, as well as Israel owns them, but at least Israel or the USA, are using these weapons in order to protect their borders and business not in killing theirs citizens.
Saddam Hussein has made a lot of mistakes, now he has to pay the bill and I want tell those who are supporting him to be ashemed. Do you remember when Saddam Hussein had started bombarding Israel? He started doing that when he felt that the world community is against him especially many governments that he thought thay would be supporters of his "tactic". He was bombarding Israel and talking about freeing Palestine, just in order to get compassion and sympathy of the Arab and world streets, from people, to make pressure under the different government. He was using them, not serving them. Poor Palestine. It becames just as a "logo" to get supporters. If he was liking to free Palestine, why did not he invaded Israel, instead of Koweit? Where are the Koweities kept by his forces?
Saddam Hussein is a man of blood and killing, he deserves what is happening to him and I hope that some head of states will take lessons from his story and sad end like that of Hitler, Mossolini and Milosevic.

HOPE...COMFORT..

During the celebration of my blogs' 1st anniversary, dear Tarek (http://tarek-cheniti.blogspot.com/) has qualified my blog in saying :" I would delightly refer to your blog as the "blog of hope". Very nice and inspiring".
Today, I am searching the hope and the comfort that I was used to talk about.
My father is very sick. In fact, I was thinking over and over before writting this article.
Neither time, nor luck are in our favour. two weeks ago, we were celebrating the 50th Independence anniversary of Tunisia, so we were in vacation and it was impossible to treat my dad's suffers. Now, my father's doctors and medical staff are in Paris attending an international conference so we have to wait for another week.
I am a believer, a Muslim and I know very well that all of us will die, but here we are talking about my father who is just 50 years old. I am his eldest son, 26.
I can not stand watching him weak, suffering or screaming. I can not either watching my mother's face,48, sad and looking at a dark future, my sister, 22, & my brothers, 15 & 10.
I can not even stay at our home for a long time. I want to escape any unpleased event. I do not like to see my father dying.
In this critical time, we are praying God for his recover and to bless him.
I want to thank all my friends who have sent me emails, sms or even taking the trouble and calling me to show thair sympathy and comfort and to pray for my dady life. They call me from every where, USA, Morocco, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.
Dear bloggers, please pray with us in order to help my father and keeping him alive, enshallah. Please.
the last sentence that i want to say is: MY FATHER, I LOVE YOU. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE US

WHEN I CRIED..

A week ago I received a call from Sara. Sara is a Iraqi girl that I knew in the United States. She is very beautiful and calm. But since she went back to Iraq I did not receive any of her news, either my friends. I was like a crazy man, looking for any information about her, but no response for almost 5 months. Last week, I received a call. I did not believe my eyes, neither my ears. She talked with me, she asked me about our group, we remembered together the beautiful souvenirs left behind in the States and we discussed matters of Iraq. Yes! hearing from her, I cried, I cried a lot. She is like an Angel. May God Protect her, her family & the Iraqi people.

HOMMAGE A MON GRAND PERE..II

C'est grace à l'article "Hommage à mon grand père", écrit par A Girl in the Moon.
3azizi w 3azizti, nhebbkom barcha barcha, w TOUNES dima fi 9albi.

"Tunisia celebrates 50 years indepedence"

Tunisia celebrates 50 years of independence from France Monday during which it has been hailed for its economic dynamism.
This Mediterranean state of 10 millions can point to sustained growth, 4.2 percent last year and six percent forecast for 2006, and is often cited as a model of social progress.
"Our country has always relied on its human resources as the way forward to all development," said Economic Minister Mohamed Nouri Jouini.
Tunisia became independent of France on March 20 1956.
It achieved a positive international image when the father of independence President Habib Bourguiba made women's rights a major feature of his plan to create a modern, pro-western state which, through mass education, today boasts a 77 percent literacy rate.
Tunisia became the first - and as yet only - Arab and Muslim country to apply a Code of Personal Status, banning polygamy tolerated elsewhere in Islamic states.
The traditional right of a husband to repudiate his wife was suppressed and the way opened to women's education, freedom of choice of marriage partner, civil marriage and legally authorised divorce.
Equality of the sexes, including the right to vote and to paid employment, is enshrined in the constitution.
Currently seven women serve in government and a quarter of the national assembly are women, as are a third of the bench, 40 percent of university-level teachers and more than half the country's 330,000 students.
Most Tunisians remain loyal to the code of personal status that came into force in August 1956. a particularly significant fact with the resurfacing of Islamic fundamentalism.
President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali called on fellow-citizens this month to form a "solid rampart against extremist currents."
Tunisia has admirers in the West, including the United States for its social and economic progress, despite its relative lack of natural resources compared to oil-wealthy North African neighbours Libya and Algeria.
Economically the country has moved from a system of nationalised industry to free market enterprise, turning it into one of the most developed countries of the region.
Following the failure of a short-lived Socialist experiment in the 1960s, prime minister Hedi Nouira liberalised the economy during the 1970s.
The country underwent a social and economic crisis at the start of the 1980s, then in 1986 adopted a programme of structural adjustment at the recommendation of the International Monetary Fund, accelerating reforms following the signing of an association accord in 1995 with the European Union.
Tourism is a main contributor to the country's wealth, with six million foreign visitors annually bringing in the main source of foreign currency.
Ben Ali made tackling unemployment as one of his highest priorities and considers many of other countries social problems is due to unfairness and inequalities that drive extremism.

cf. Tertullien, saint Cyprien, saint Augustin.

DIANA CRASH 'AN ACCIDENT'

The car crash which claimed the life of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES in 1997 was an accident, an interim report by Britain's former top cop is expected to announce. Ex-Metropolitan police commissioner LORD STEVENS, who is leading the inquiry into the Paris tragedy, has found no evidence of foul play, reaching the same conclusion as the French investigation. NEW POLITICAL PARTY IN TUNISIA

‘Green Party’ is born in Tunisia

The Green Party for Progress adds ‘another colour’ to ever-increasing political spectrum.

TUNIS - A new political party was born Friday in Tunisia.
The new formation, named “the Green Party for Progress,” (the PVP) is Tunisia’s ninth legal party.
The other eight political parties span the political spectrum, from the centre to the left. But this is the first party dedicated to ecological concerns.
Mr Mongi Khammassi, secretary general of the newly-formed party, said in a statement today his formation “will be a space open to all sincere people and patriotic Tunisians desiring to contribute to the progress of the country, within legality and respect for the tenets of the republican system.”
He added, “our party will endeavour to promote environmental awareness and sensitization as to the importance of such an awareness in anchoring a pro-environment culture in the lives of citizens and groups of society.”
The party will also “struggle against all forms of natural imbalances,” he said.
The new party is led by a ten-member executive committee.
It is also the fifth political party to gain legal standing since President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali came to power in 1987.
Mr Mongi Khamassi, the secretary general of the PVP, is a liberal activist and a member of Parliament.

CHAT & SOUVENIRS..

I was working on the internet when I met in hotmail with some of the group that I was with during our visit to the United States. I have felt very happy, beacsue I did not hear from them long time ago, especially that some of them are living in risky countries like Palestine and Iraq.
I miss them & I miss the time that we spent together in USA.
I believe in friendship a lot although I faced problems with my friends: egoism, lies, hypcrasy...

ANARCHIE TOTALE...

An Open Letter from U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to the People of Tunis

"I recently visited your beautiful city for important discussions with President Ben Ali, as well as the Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs. During our talks, we covered a variety of key issues involving the warm relationship between the United States and Tunisia. Tunis provided a fine venue for our important conversations.
During our visit, I was able to again enjoy a visit to the National Museum of Carthage, where I had the chance to learn even more about the extraordinary history of your country. Tunisia is a remarkable and historic land, and I have enjoyed each of my visits over the years. I hope to return soon!
I thank you so much for your kind hospitality."

THANKS TO THE USA..I GOT 20/20 in GEOGRAPHY..

During the school year 1995-1996, I was student of the third grade in the secondary school in Bizerta, my town. I beleive that many of you are remembering when we studied in geography about differents countries like the United States, Japan, European Union,Egypt, Brazil, in fact the curriculum was similar to that of the baccalaureate, four years later. At that time, when we were studying abouit theUSA, we didn't have any map of the USA, so our teacher was using either the worldwide map or the map of north America. So I decided to draw the map of the United States on a big drawing paper, with small maps in the marge about agriculture, economy and energy. I handed it as a gift to the administration so that teachers may use it. My teacher liked it and she decided to give me 20/20 as the oral interrogation mark in geography :)

GIFTS FROM USA

Last Friday, I was invited by the Cultural Affairs Officer of the Embassy Of the United States of America in Tunis to accompany the US Embassy staff to visit some kids of the COT - OCT (The Olympic Club Of Transport / Le Club Olympique De transport), to hand hand bags as gifts from the USA kids. It was very funny to meet with the kids although I was sad because they were very poor. I talked to few of them and I wished them good luck.

14TH FEBRUARY 2005 * 2006

Lebanon is celebrating the first year over the terrible assasination of the former PM Rafic Hariri. Although the world was celebrating Valentine's day, many were shocked by the news of the killing. In fact Lebanon was killed, too. One year ago now, waiting to know the truth. But, in fact we were waiting the truths of many previous killings and assasinations such as that of Princess Diana, Dodi Al Fayed, Marlyn Monroy, Princess Grace of Monaco and Jack F. Kennedy.
May God Bless Lebanon.

SAD & DISAPPOINTED..

Last Wednesday February 8th, 2006, I finished reading the book of Thomas L.Friedman that i bought from the UN headquarters in New York City last October,"From Beirut To Jerusalem".
For almost four months, I have lived nightly with its writer and I shared him the different historical steps that the Middle East has known: Lebanese civil war, Israeli siege of Beirut, withdrawal of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation PLO to Tunis, syrian affair, the Gulf war and the peace talks.
The book, which is a mix of personal biography and points of view, but also it is a report of history and realities that covered the period from 1979 until 1995.
Finishing reading it, I felt sad ( as usual as I finish a book).
Now, looking at the current scene in the ME, particularly in Palestine, the unstability, the going back and forth of the peace treaty, the Hamas-winning of the legeslative elections and the Israeli's disengagement of their committments, I feel very disappointed.
I had had strong belief in establishing peace in that part of the world. Today, I am thinking to give-up...

WHEN MY SISTER TALKS..

It was the first time that I heard my sister (22 years old), talking about politics. We were watching news of Lebanon over the setting fire in the Danish Consulate and in a church in Al Achrafiyyeh - Beirut. i was focusing on the news when I heard my sister saying: "What crazy they are. It is very shameful that they are turning the true fact of demonstration - denying the cartoons of the prophet Mohamed (GPUH)- into a riot to serve personel benefit".
She has right. Don't you think so?

OPEN LETTER..LETTRE OUVERTE..

This is an open letter of complaint to their Excellencies, ambassadors of Danmark, France, Norway, Netherlands and New Zeland in Tunis and through them to their respective leaders, over the publication of the offensive cartoons/caricatures of our prophet Mohamed, God's prayers upon Him.
Such acts will grow up mutual hate and antisemitism and will never help us in establishing peace in the world especially in the Middle East. such irresponsible acts, will lead terrorists and fondameltalists to justify their operations and will make harder our activities to create an atmosphere of cooperation and dialogues between civilisations and religions.
That cartoons hurted and touched us so so much and even as a strong believer of the freedom of expression and thoughts and of respecting the different points of view, I believe that drawing caricatures of the prophet Mohamed, can not be introduced as freedom of speech, instead of that, it is a clear provocation.

NEGOTIATIONS

Reading the book, " From Beirut to Jerusalem" of Thomas L. Friedman, Chapter 18:"Talking with My grocer", p512-515, I found this passage:

"...Israelis and Palestinians are arguing about how to organize a dialogue that would discuss how to elect Palestinians to negotiate with Israel on its offer of autonomy for the Arab inhabitants of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In other words, they are negotiating for a negotiation about organizing negotiations for an interim solution".
" I personally don't like Arabs and Arabs don't like me. Forty years in the same bed. There hasn't been love; there hasn't been sex. I want a divorce".
Israeli Major General (Res.)
Avigdor ben-Gal, former commander
of Israel's northern front, 1988"
