AL FAYED CALLS FOR ROYALS TO BE WITNESSES

MOHAMED AL FAYED has requested that British Royals PRINCE CHARLES and PRINCE PHILIP are called as witnesses at the inquest into the death of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES . The Harrods boss, whose son DODI FAYED also died in the 1997 Paris car crash along with driver HENRI PAUL, insists having the two royals give evidence in person would give his lawyers the chance to question them about his belief Diana and his son were murdered. Al Fayed's spokesman MICHAEL COLE, says, "We would want Prince Charles and Prince Philip to be called as witnesses but this is at the discretion of the coroner. "The only person who is above the law is the Queen but there's nothing to prevent Prince Charles or the Duke of Edinburgh being called." In addition, Al Fayed has asked that the statement Prince Charles gave to LORD STEVENS - who lead the three-year investigation into the crash - is made public at the inquest. Cole adds, "Why should these papers be denied? All the parties have the right to see the papers, not just us."
